Gabriel, the messenger archangel, is found in the texts of three major religions. In Judaism, he is the angel who appears to Daniel, in Christianity he is the angel that appears to Mary to announce the birth of Jesus, and in Islam he appeared to Mohammed and dictated the Koran to him.
