Laxshmi
Lakshmi “she who leads to one’s goal” is one of the principal goddesses in Hinduism. She is the goddess of wealth, prosperity, fertility, beauty, and power. She is the consort of Vishnu, and together they create, protect, and transform the universe. Her iconography shows her seated upon and holding a lotus, symbolizing fortune, self-knowledge, and spiritual liberation. The lotus is a flower that blooms in clean or dirty water regardless of the “good” or “bad” circumstances in which it grows. Laxshmi holds the promise of material fulfillment and contentment. She is described as restless, whimsical, yet maternal. One of her hands is raised in blessing and protection, the other offers a gold coin, symbolizing prosperity.
