No Mother Wants War (SOLD)
6” x 8”
The central figure in this shrine is Frigga, the Norse goddess of fertility, household, motherhood, love, marriage, and the domestic arts. One of the reasons I chose the title to use with her image is because war is in complete discordance with everything she stands for. The image on the stamp from the state of Qatar is of a mother holding the baby. It is an image anyone who has held a child can connect with. Another stamp I found in this collection was from the United Nations, with its symbol of the dove of peace. I used it to symbolize our faith in the institutions we have put in place to keep our world at peace. The crystal I chose is a rose quartz, whose meaning is associated with the opening and healing of the heart. It is an egg shape, which is often used as a symbol of life, rebirth, and rejuvenation.
