Offrenda for Frida (SOLD)
6” x 8”
Honoring Frida Kahlo in the Mexican tradition of the Day of the Dead. This small shrine celebrates the life and work of the artist Frida Khalo. Offrendos are often created in the Mexican traditions surrounding the Day of the Dead. A typical offrendo will include a picture of the deceased, and items associated with them. Sometimes paper marigolds and other types of tissue paper flowers are used. This shrine has the traditional marigolds, but also included are calla lilies, which occur in many of the paintings and murals by her husband Diego Rivera. There is a picture on the back of the two of them, and in the interior of the shrine are small images of some of her most famous paintings.
